History

In 2014 after 17 years working with one of the largest distributors in the United States in both sales and marketing William Barnes founds Webster Barnes. Webster Barnes is started with a solid foundation of family principles. The name is a combination of the family names of Mr. Barnes’ parents. Annie (Webster) Barnes met Morse William Barnes in England when Morse Barnes was stationed in Wales with the Air Force in the 50s.

Annie Webster was born in the small town of Loughnageer Ireland where she grew up speaking Gaelic with the values of a farmer’s household. She was the daughter of a soldier in the Irish Free Army. Morse Barnes was the son of 2 laborers working in the Oneida Silver Factory in Sherill, NY. Neither of them had much growing up but had strong loving families that worked hard and had good values and an appreciation for everything.

They met in Johnnie Walker’s pub in Liverpool England, fell in love, got married and moved with the military for years before settling in Battle Creek Michigan where Morse retired from the US Air Force and they starting a family of their own.

William Barnes, much like the story his parents met and fell in love with his wife while visiting France. In starting their family it was clear that raising children with the love and support of a large family in France was the right thing to do.

Mission

Webster Barnes Wine & Spirits represents many of the best champagnes, wines and spirits throughout Europe as well as almost every classified growth in Bordeaux through only 2 large established negociants that can provide one of the largest offerings available with verifiable provenance we are able to bring something interesting to every consumer.

While the world has less and less personal involvement we focus on people and their involvement. We make sure that people passionate about what they do are involved in every step of our business so that we are sure we are putting the best the world has to offer into your glass.
